Privacy Policy

Hewett Health ("the App") is a personal fitness and nutrition tracking application. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and your rights in relation to that information.

1. Information we collect

Hewett Health collects only the information you voluntarily provide during use of the App:

• Personal profile data (first name, age, height, weight, biological sex, fitness goals)
• Workout logs (exercises, sets, reps, weight, dates)
• Nutrition data (foods logged, calories, macronutrients)
• Bodyweight entries and personal records
• Sleep logs and fasting timer data
• Photos you choose to upload for AI food scanning (processed in real time, not stored)

2. How your data is stored

All personal data is stored locally on your device using browser localStorage. We do not operate servers that store your personal data. Your data does not leave your device except as described in Section 3 below.

3. AI features and third-party services

Premium features (AI food scanning, AI meal plan generation, nutrition chat) send data to Anthropic's API to generate responses. This includes:

• Food photos you submit for scanning
• Text messages you send to the nutrition chat
• Your profile information (goals, calorie targets) used to personalise meal plans

These requests are processed through our secure server proxy. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to data processed by their API: anthropic.com/privacy.

The App also uses the Open Food Facts database for food search functionality. Searches are performed directly from your device. Open Food Facts privacy policy: world.openfoodfacts.org/privacy.

4. What we do not collect

• We do not collect payment card details or financial information
• We do not create user accounts or store personal data on our servers
• We do not use advertising networks or sell your data to third parties
• We do not use analytics or tracking cookies
• We do not share your data with any third party except as stated in Section 3

5. Health data disclaimer

Hewett Health is not a medical application. The calorie targets, training programmes, and nutritional information provided are for general fitness guidance only and are not a substitute for professional medical or dietary advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before starting a new exercise programme or making significant changes to your diet, particularly if you have any existing health conditions.

6. Children's privacy

Hewett Health is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

7. Data deletion

You can delete all your data at any time from within the App via Settings → Clear All Data. This permanently removes all locally stored data from your device. Since we do not store your data on our servers, this action is immediate and irreversible.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes within the App. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

9. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, and delete your personal data. Since all data is stored locally on your device, you can exercise these rights directly through the App. For any questions about data held by third-party services (Anthropic), please contact them directly.
